How much better do you rate the 145 vs 141 tweak?
Mads and Sam: Any issues with the track and base on the 2016 refraction?

Well for me 145 is a much better length, it's basically the smallest board I should be riding it's just that previously if we sold that no one would buy it... I've been riding custom 145s for a while now. Smaller guys (>70kgs) should still feel fine on this size as well, hell Daniel Grant rides a 144.
017 Tranq also has a new base which is harder and slides quicker than previous years.

New SS boards don't have track anymore and their bases are looking a lot more durable now as well.

Yup dumped from their 2017 wake line too, they've also gone for a new mounting system for bindings

2017 should drop soon.

New SS gummy straps on their boots look like a pretty solid idea, checked them out and they seem to stay tight and not come un-done. Also their new base-plates looks like a big improvement.

The base of the 2016 is pretty solid, but after a while I made it through to the wood, which I don't think I'll be able on the 2017.
The track system works alright, but tend to break after a while of heavy abuse.

The 2016 still is a very good and tough board, but if you are thinking about 2016 vs. 2017 refraction I would definitely go for the 2017.

Man I'm with you on this. I gave up on riding small or even the right size for my weight. I'm short but built like a whisky barrel/tree stump 190lbs at 5'5" and I ride as big as I can. Bigger is better imho.

I am glad SS is actually going the same route as wake when it comes to specs on their kite boards. Now they include weight for the size on the 2017 boards. But really the refraction looks way to flat for me. Guess I'll wait to see what the Whip looks like before I upgrade.

Hi troops, I'm thinking to buy the refraction 143 2017, but I am a heavy rider (191cm90kg) and i don´t know if it will be a slow board (like a cabrinha custom), i like the size and the 44.3cm wide is perfect for my 12us boots. I was trying gambler north 142 and I liked what I was fast and pop that had and the feeling of freedom, and the youri pro 140 hyper fast and pop, but more specific, more fragile construction and the 140x42 size is a little small, someone who finds proven 3 can be compared? (i know they are different style of boards)
I have a cable board, don´t want a crossover!

Rode the new Refraction the other day. Way better- A LOT lighter, better pop. Still rockered enough but goes upwind way better. Probably will get one at some point.

Same, so fed up with struggling up-wind on average days.

You might wanna try the new 145 tranq at that weight, 143 is still on the small side. You will get going way sooner on the 145.

Tranq is now 145, billy is 141, bootleg is 137. All the boards are designed for the people that rode the same board previous. So the 145 is for the previous tranq 141 riders, the 141 is for the previous billy 139 riders and the bootleg is just a smaller version of both of them.
