Had anyone had any experience with this?

I'm in the planning stages of building a low floating box slider, nothing major. Anyways, I'm worried about the bob factor. Since it will be relatively narrow, 12" wide probably, there won't be a whole lot of weight. I figured I'd just hang some sand bags from the bottom sides, or corners, or both, to stabilize it a bit. Would that actually work? Mentally it seems like it would but it would be nice to have some first hand, real world experience.

havent had any experience with it but it sounds like the sandbags would work or you could just keep the anchors line really tight so it would hold it in place better, like kinda sinking it down a little?

i know some narrow floating sliders have a weightd barrel as a keel hanging below the center under water to stop the roll over. I think it will need to be a solid braced member instead of wire thou else the slider can rotate at the connection point if you used wire.

or something like this would work if you dnt go to high, set on top of floating poly freezer panel or just wood framd with polystyrene sheets in between

Ya budday, lookin forward to some skate edits. anyways, 12" is pretty narrow for a square sided slider - prolly be a bit proned to tipping. this pic is my friends skate floating box(squared sides), 24" x 24', it doesnt get used anymore cause our river is pretty busy with boat traffic, and most everyone goes to this slider park nowadays http://www.thebasecamp.ca/ - I am claiming this box though and am gonna put it somewhere else. anyways, its totally stable, bobs a bit but you dont notice and ya dont need to sandbag it or anything. for a 12" ya prolly gonna need a 24" base with angled safety sides or something like that. or maybe it will work as youre planning. jus gotta build it and see.

as far as bobbing goes - this vid is of a abandonded slider i converted to float, its setup in around 10" of water and ya can see it moving a bit when hit - i noticed it a bit, but it was no big deal. sorry for the repost of the vid, if ya seen it already and if you havnt - haha

Hi!

I'm thinking about a small wakeskate / newbie twintip box; 1m50 wide, about 7m long. size has been dictated by plank formats i can buy here.

do you think it's worth the while building it ? ( all in wood + barrel floaters )

looks like cool box to sesh there dude ^^^ especially on a skate

here's a project i've been working on with my dad. it's a 30' c-rail, made of steel, totally modular, and adjustable legs.

here's a plan photo, all i've got of the real thing (frame only) is a super small shitty cell pic.

will update when its done :metal:

You have probably figured it yout to, but you need some support beams on the outside of that bend.

what did Chenzo end up doing with that massive ride on page 5 & 6 ? Did anyone ever get a chance to ride it? hopefully didn't end up as firewood without being hit even once!

Stone,
I have a similar situation. Here is my most recent build, its 12'x16" I have 2 of em plus a 4' trans up so Im looking at 28' total. I was thinking of throwing some barrels underneath and some ply angled walls along the entire thing. but as with all my builds its fuckin heavy! and I think it will roll over. Sorry Im no help, but in the next week or so Ill play with some ideas. As for your if its light enough I would hang some cinderblocks off the corners and that should hold it well.
