I saw this video and was implored to share it... in addition to gaining over (UPDATE) 5.8million views in 2 days, it was stunningly edited and shot, and the message is huge:

What better way to spend the evening of 4.20 then tagging your neighborhood in street art that will help raise the awareness of a brutal mass murder! You'll have to get your own auxiliary GREEN 4.20 kit for ALL your necessary provisions

I am a little skeptical of this Invisible Children organization.

First off, the LRA has been driven out of Uganda and is now stationed in Southern Sudan and Congo. The Uganda forces has no longer any right to cross the border to look for the LRa like they had till recently. So we have to ask, where does this money go, now that there isnt any way the Ugandian government or USA for that matter can reach the LRA.

And here is the 2011 audit:

"Of the $8.9 million they spent in 2011, this is the breakdown:
$1.7 million in US employee salaries
... $357,000 in Film costs
$850,000 in Production costs
$685,000 in Computer equipement
$244,000 in "professional services" (DC lobbyists)
$1.07 million in travel expenses
$400,000 in office rent in San Diego
$16,000 in Entertainment etc...
Only 2.8 million (31%) made it to their charity program (which is further whittled down by local Ugandan government officials)
What do the children actually get?"

Note that i found this on another forum, so the source isnt really all that reliable. Still, its pretty shocking if this is true, and only 31% acctually goes to cause. Non-profit organization my ass.

I'm not saying this is a bad thing, and all this hype they are creating cant hurt. In some way this will help the ugandian children. I'm just not swallowing this whole like my entire facebook wall seems to do.

A phenomenal edit and message. =D> It's time we realize our control and power as a global entity and flip this system. Then it will be a true democracy.

thanks for sharing bro.

ralfiboy... I've heard and read those statistics from some others (there's an NPR article on it below). However, I have to disagree with this argument of "look what they're spending their money on!" as there goal isn't to stop Kony or raise money to help the children... per the NPR article Invisible Children's goal is too:

"Make a commitment to stop at nothing by making sure Kony is known in their circle of influence, whether it's their family or office or school. The dream would be for Kony to be captured, not killed, and brought to the International Criminal Court to face trial. The world would know about his crimes and they would watch the trial play out on an international level, seeing a man face justice who got away with abducting children, raping little girls, and mutilating people's faces for 26 years."

Invisible Children is a non-profit media group... that's it. Make cool shirts, videos, posters, things that the youth culture would want to embrace and THUS raise awareness of Kony and his crimes. If you look at other successful charities that have started in the past 5 years (Charity: Water being a good example) they spend the largest proportion of their budgets on marketing. Without people knowing who you are... you're fucked!

This is a critically important concept to understand as it directly influences how they would bring about the capture Kony. With a 9 million dollar operating budget you could easily hire private mercenaries such as the Blackwater Group and have Kony murdered by Ex-Special Forces... BUT, that wouldn't be a threat to other mercenaries, corrupt dictators, and other violates of Human Rights Laws. You hold Kony accountable and at the hand of ordinary citizens and now you've got something... I hope.

its a bit stupid how this shit happens in SA all the time but it's largely ignored by the world, pick a poorer country with the excuse for "fund raising" and all of the sudden the entire globe wants to know about it.

Before trying to change things on the other side of the world people should start by cleaning their front door first.

the people from invisible children came to my high school a year or so ago. the video and stories from the kids were crazy and everything seemed legit about them.

I think this is one of those things that the world is quite naive about, without having been to africa or lived there they struggle to comprehend what's going on there. they just see a cause and want to make themselves feel like theyre doing something for the world for that warm fuzzy feeling but in the end i bet after a week or two this shit will be forgotten as if it never happened...

what people dont get is how disgustingly corrupt the governments of places such as uganda are, all this money being donated is being given to a corrupt government that will do little with it other than fill their own coffers and buy more weapons etc, very little of this money will ever make it to do what it's intended to due to this corruption. Those military forces are often just as bad if not worse than the rebels etc as they can abuse their so called "power".

Where was the help for the south africans and the zimbabweans who were being tortured and killed while being chased off their farms etc?

I might sound like an ass hole for saying this and dont get me wrong it's cool people are trying to do something good and help the world, but these things won't go away that easily, kony will just get replaced and it will continue. It might also sound incredibly racist of me but unfortunately that is just the culture of Africa, lots of hate between different tribes and countries that date back generations and is burned into their cultures. unfortunately i dont see civility setting in nor do i see the savagery dissipating within the next century.

werd. "giving" and rackin up charities has done little in human history to actually make a difference in african countries. I say leave the place alone U.S, let the chinese and others invested continue to build infrastructure, create jobs in the near future and then have a working majority able and willing to do something about rebel movements. trust me on this, i've played Sim City. :o
