yo yo

Just wondering what settings people are riding the GP on and if I should make a small line extension to give more slack in the fifth line??

If anybody is riding the GP out there any tips to get the most out of this slick kite would be appreciated

cheers

sweet man. I ride all the way out, all lines. No need for an extension on 5th line.

i ride mine on loosest settings all round except the front i rode on the inner knot because otherwise my kite backstalls like a mofo, i have a pre production bar though.

No extension, just furthest knot out and closest on the front lines.

oh i thought you wanted the setup for board offs

But seriously, it seems certain sizes tend to backstall more than others. Try it all the way out and if its stalling go in on the front lines

anyone know how this kite compares to the fuel? bar pressure, turning speed, backstall.

Once it is tuned does it still backstall?

I'd say lighter bar pressure than the fuel... turning speed is reactive but not twitchy. If you're bar is tuned and you rig it to you riding style it never backstalls.

The GP is the type of kite that rewards the rider that takes the time to play with the tuning and find how you like it... I ride middle attachment point on the back line and all the way out, front line on the furthest forward attachment point and all the way in, 5th line second knot. Rui Miera likes third knot on the 5th, Medysky likes his super wakestyle with both front and back attachments points closest to the center. Take a session and tinker with it, you'll be stoked with the result!

Thanks for the reply, how about the build quality on the kite, any issues with it deflating on tomahawks etc?

Well... while filming "Suger & Spice" in southeast Asia, Miguel flew my 11m into a tree... Drinkwater flew it into a sign and it came out fine after both! Sabo flew his 11m into a rock jetty and I believe a huge piling while riding with Sexton down in the keys, pffft! and his came out fine, hahaha!

I'm not gonna come out and say, "Oh yeah, these kites are bombproof, surf tough, etc" or any other marketing bullshit... in short, the kites are built so the best riders in the world can ride it hard.

zs2, where are you located... just get on one and try it!

I'm in savannah, ga and there isn't a dealer here. Good to hear about the build quality! Only thing kind of keeping me from pulling the trigger right now is the 5th line and the fact that I like to ride the surfboard in the waves (well if you call them waves around here)... been flying another 5th line kite for about 6 months and although I haven't put it down in the surf it is always something I worry about when I'm out on it.

That's like having a 6'1" shortboard... great for top to bottom competitive style surfing, but you're undergunned on big swells.

The GP is the shit for freestyle/wakestyle (hence the 5th line)... but for waves I ride the Kahoona... cheap, stable and amazing down the line drift. If you want one kite for both you could do the BEST TS, Envy, RPM ,etc... but no SLE compares to C-kite for unhooking.

Come up to Hatteras this spring and you can ride mine!

Heh, thanks I wish I could make the long trek up there. That's not a bad idea to buy a kahoona for the surf. It's rare we get decent surf around here but, sometimes it happens. I have a feeling I might just be paddling on those days anyway since I just dropped some cash on a firewire dominator.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the 9 & 11 GP's deal was too good to pass up! Maybe I can finally dial in the back to blind and 313s and hopefully unload my other kites.

Congrats brah... after you get a few sessions on them you should post a short review on this thread and let people know the tuning you like the best.

I definitely will. I was trying to understand what you guys meant on the settings and it sounds like I'll have to set it differently on the 9/11 (and the 13 I will probably end up getting).

sounds to me like the front lines need to be ridden tighter than the back and I'm guessing you ride the 5th on the same setting as the front lines? Looks like everyone posting here has their own "sweet spot"! ;)
