I'm talking about a kicker that has a little bit of a bank to it, so you could feasibly set it up a little more into the wind and ride into it on more of an upwind tack. The idea is that you'd possibly get slightly more pop even if you were to build a smaller kicker.

the biggest drawback I could see is that it'd only work on one tack direction and not as simple of a build. Just a useless thought.

I've been sitting on this for a bit, but might as well share it now, a kicker you can hit from both tacks, adjustable for what angle to a broad reach you might want, when I hit the kicker in HR I thought it was way too far downwind, I lost all my speed running into it, but I'm a noob. My last kicker was setup just downwind of a broad reach tack, so I could have speed and tension in the lines and kite.

I am going to do a full documentation of the build so everyone else who needs to setup a floating kicker in tidal conditions can benefit. this can be bolted into the right angle config and then anchored to a single upwind point and the upwind face will keep the whole thing trimmed square to the wind.

i built one that can change the angle. But you need to build a wide kicker if you want to bank it...i never adjusted it just left it level.

I don't know if a banked kicker would work for hitting it on a more upwind tack. You can't hit a kicker edgeing away from the kite anyway, you'll just end up on your ass.

I think it would work the way it is drawn... I was surprised the other day hitting our kicker for the first time at how it didn't really need to be pointed downwind very much at all. I expected the approach to be a lot more technical but, it was simple.

I think Joby has some plans for a double kicker like that somewhere also. Pretty easy to just flip the kicker around though. Wouldnt want people crossing lines all over the place on that thing if your spot is busy!

The banked thing might be kind of weird if you are trying to hit it with a lot of speed, but its definitely doable. Build it and show us some shit!

action > talk
this is about 4 hours worth of work, I ran out of rolling papers and drill batteries so I had to head home.
I was going to cheap out on the plastic but after building this and visualizing how fucking sick its going to be I'm going to shell out for the big bucks HDPE.

I don't want to dampen your spirits, but I'm gonna have to side with Inept here and tsay that what you have built so far looks more like a spine ramp for skateboarding rather than a double sided water kicker.

time will tell, I think I got what I wanted to achieve, basically getting booted to the moon off a just about to break wave kicker....maybe its the scale you're looking at it from ?
